Winnemucca Week 17 (Mission Week38)🎅🏻

Merry Late Christmas everyone!!!! I hope you all had a great Christmas this year celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ!! My Christmas cheer and spirit spread throughout the whole zone so we were all really excited for Christmas. Santa even came and brought gifts! I sure had a good week. I guess you could say it's was the most wonderful week of the year haha. Here's how the week went

Tuesday
We had district council which is also fun. We also did 2 more of our Christmas singing performance with the Spanish elders. It was so fun. We did it at the Memory Care unit and the nursing home. I'm kinda sad now though because that was the last time we will do it. No more gigs 😢 We did 4 and that's it.

Wednesday
We had service with the Jones family trying to repair a log splitter. We were no match for it and due to the lack of knowledge between the 4 of us, we had no idea how to start the thing haha. We had a Book of Mormon read with Stacy and Tracy that went well. Occasionally we get derailed off topic but this lesson was VERY off topic because Stacy likes to ask extremely off topic questions haha. I love them both though and I love reading the scriptures with them. We drove over to the Altmans to give their new missionary son, Stetson, some Spanish pamphlets because he's in the Home MTC. We had a great dinner with the Andersons and then we went and talked with the Grossnickles for a bit and shared a Christmas message.

Thursday
We ate breakfast with the Southwicks and then we did service for them. We have done this almost every week while I've been here and it's been so much fun. We completed their fence a couple weeks back so they wanted to have a photoset with it haha. I'll send pictures of it. We had a weekly planning session and then we had dinner with the Kenisons. We ended the day with basketball!!

Friday
We went on exchanges with the Zone leaders which was fun. We were able to do some work in our area which was nice. We had a Priesthood lesson with Gary. We also were able to set up 2 lessons for the next week. The rest of the day was spent in their area.

Christmas Eve!!!
We helped the Lewis family build part of their fence. They fed us lunch afterwards as well. We did some preparing for Christmas the next day and then went out to wish some people a Merry Christmas! We had an awesome dinner with the Southwicks and this is where the Christmas Spirit hit me like it usually does. I was so happy. The Southwicks gave us a gift and I was also able to open my Christmas Eve gift at their house! It was so fun. We ended the day with sharing a Christmas message with the Munks. We went back to our apartment and hung out with some Elders and Santa even came to see us! I'll send a pic.

Christmas Day 🎄🎅🏻🎁!!!
CHRISTMAS!!!! I was expecting Christmas to be a dud this year but oh was I wrong. It was awesome. Because of how much I had prepared for this day in trying to make it a good Christmas for everyone, it paid off. The tree was full of gifts from ward members, family, each other, and even SANTA! (not that this is the true meaning of Christmas but it's still fun to see haha) We went to church which was awesome. I loved seeing all the ward members on Christmas Day. We had a great program. After church all the Elders in Winnemucca gathered together at 1pm and opened presents. It felt like a Christmas morning at home! It was so much fun. My mom was able to watch the whole thing too which was great. I love my mom haha. We had a great dinner with the Sagers family and then we went over to Jordan's house. He was having a terrible day because he was lonely and he had no one to spend Christmas with due to some family and legal trouble. We played a board game with him and his entire mood switched and he said that that is what he wanted for Christmas. He said that he was begging his ex girlfriend to come play a board game and to bring his son but she refused to. I'm so glad that we were able to make his day. Please pray for him. He is not doing well. This is what Christmas is all about. Helping others and being Christlike. Please remember that Christmas is not a good holiday for those without family or loved ones so try to help them have a great Christmas by being Christlike.

Monday
We concluded the Christmas season with our Secret Santa. No more gifts remain under the tree. It was a fun Pday because we played our new games that we got. I got Unstable Unicorns which I played my first transfer in Winnemucca but since the Elder that had it left I hadn't played it since. It's so fun to me haha.

Lesson Reviews

Gary
We went over the Priesthood and what he can do to prepare to recieve it. It went well and he has a desire to be ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood!!

I encourage y'all to read Alma 7: 10-13. This is what I consider to be the true meaning of Christmas. In my opinion it's not even about the Savior being born but as to WHY he was born. Him being born isn't the most important thing because if it was some random baby named Steve then we wouldn't celebrate Stevemas. It's that fact of who he was going to be and what he would accomplish which is why him being born is so momentous. His birth is second to that of the Atonement.

Well that's all from this week. One more week and we are in 2023! Crazy. I'm about to start my blackout year. Also transfers is next week so we will see what that holds. I love you all so much!!

Have a great week
Elder Proctor
