Winnemucca Week 16 (Mission Week 37)

Hey everyone!

This will be a shorter email due to me writing it so late haha. Alot of fun stuff happened this week. Not much teaching but a lot of Christmas stuff that out us out there to be seen

Monday
We had regular pday stuff and we had a lesson with Layne. It also snowed A TON. A massive snowstorm hit and we got a lot of snow.

Tuesday
We did A TON of service this day. Because it snowed so much (which is still on the ground now), we got to shovel a lot of people's driveways. It was very fun but also very cold ðŸ¥¶ We also went proselyting with one of the prospective missionaries on the ward Matthew. We found a guy named Dario that might come to basketball! We also got a call from Sister Altman that she needed help shoveling someone's driveway but when the time came her son had gotten his truck stuck on a mountain so we drove all the way over there to try to help. That was pretty fun too. He got out right when we showed up too lol.

Wednesday
This day was pretty fun because we did a lot of inactive member contacting. That took up pretty much the entire day. We also went to mutual and we talked to Bishop and his first counselor and we got a whole bunch of people to contact in the ward.

Thursday
This day was SOOO fun. We had been practicing for a Christmas program for the Senior Center for a little bit and we finally got to perform it. The room was filled and everyone loved it. I will send videos. We were there for quite a while and the senior center fed us as well. We did weekly planning after and then went back to the senior center for dinner. We ended the day with basketball.

Friday
We had Zone Conference and our Christmas party this day in Elko. It was soooo fun. I wish all Zone Conferences were as fun as this one was. We did a talent show after and we performed our rendition of Santa Claus is coming to town for everyone. It was so fun seeing other missionaries that I hadn't seen in a while. We were there for pretty much the entire day. We were gifted some awesome mission hoodies.

Saturday
We attended 2 baptisms so that took up a good chunk of our day. We had interviews with Presdient Dunn which is always a good thing. We had another Book of Mormon read with Stacy and Tracy and also have Sister Lewis a blessing. Something unfortunate happened after that when we were driving to dinner though. We were on a slick icy background way down Grass Valley Road and because it had snowed so much and no one drives this road, it was very dangerous. We took a turn and slid off the road and ran into a barbed fire fence. We were stuck in the snow and were in between the barbed wire. It was FREEZING cold. Our car got pretty damaged but we got out. We were praying the whole time so prayer works guys haha.

Sunday
We had regular church meetings a d had an awesome missionary roleplay in Gospel Doctrine class. After church we went to mission prep which was fun. We drove down to Reno in the evening and spent the night with another set of Elders because I had a neurologist appointment on Monday. When we arrived to their apartment they weren't there yet but a guy that knew them was and invited us into his apartment and started playing the guitar. His name was Chad and he is an awesome guy. When the other elders showed up he expressed his want to stop drinking so we grabbed his beer and poured it down the sink. I'll send a video.

Monday
We were in Reno the whole Pday which was fun. I went to my neurologist appointment, got an estimate on our truck for repair, went to the mall, and went bowling with the other elders district. It was really fun.

Lesson Reviews

Layne
We ate dinner with them and then we taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing too crazy happened.

Well this week flew by. Christmas is this week! I am so excited. My Christmas spirit has spread throughout the Zone and we are also so excited. I'm calling my Christmas in our apartment the Zone Christmas tree. We have everyone's presents from their family and our Secret Santa thing we are doing under the tree. It truly looks like Christmas. Don't forget the true meaning of Christmas though which is Christ being born. Also it's not just the fact that he was born but what he did on the Earth. If he wasn't born then none of it would've happened. Alma 7: 10-13 is a good example of what he did.

I love you guys! Have a great Christmas ðŸŽ„!!!
