Quincy Week 16 (Mission Week 55)

Hey guys!!! Another late email. I have got to get better at emailing on time. Anyways my week went well. It has finally got to the point where it is consistently nice outside and I'm super stoked about it. Here's how my week went.

Monday
We had a great pday disc golfing with Blake and Andrew. In the evening we had a great discussion with Ryan. After Ryan we hit up Mike and scheduled a lesson with him for Wednesday night.

Tuesday
We had district council which took up a good portion of the day. We did some work in Greenville after. We had a lesson with Brenda but it fell through once again. She said that she was busy and we could come back on Friday. We then went over to JoyAnn and Hugh's place to do some unplanned service since all of our plans failed. After dinner with the Myers we headed down to Quincy for a lesson with Maddy. After the lesson we went to the church and had a ysa activity. It was only 5 of us there but at least the opportunity is there for the other 8 ysa.

Wednesday
We did a lot of service. We went up to Jacob's place in Greenhorn and helped him out for a bit. We took out all the tabs that were left in the concrete foundation of the house he's building because the company did not. We had some good conversations with him as we worked. After lunch we helped the Dolezals move a lot of flooring out of their living room. It looks so good now!! I didn't even think of it all the times I was there but Sister Dolezal did some nice work organizing their living room. After that we helped move a hospital bed from someone's apartment into storage for Sister Dolezals work "The Hope Chest". After this Elder Salinas wasn't feeling good so we rested for a couple of hours. At 5:30 we went to Pioneer Park and had a round of disc golf with the Plumas County Disc Golf Club. We were competing for bag tags (mentioned in my email 2 weeks ago) and I came out with the same tag I came with (which is good haha). A lady on my scorecard knew our Bishops wife so that was a cool connection to find while we played. I had an awesome eagle putt from 90 feet out and I was pretty excited about that. It's nice when you make a nice shot and everyone on the course starts cheering haha. After the round we went to our lesson with Mike. This was probably the strangest lesson I've had haha. Not because of what we discussed but the overall look of the lesson. So first of all we weren't even in church clothes because we didn't have time to change so I was legit in a hoodie and sweatpants. Second of all he made us burgers but it was like 8:30 at night. Third of all while we are talking I look over and guess who I see come out of the backroom. Freaking Brenda from Greenville!!! That was the last person I thought I would see that night. So we were all in regular clothes, eating burgers, with 2 investigators from 2 different areas 30 minutes from each other at 9pm at night haha. After the lesson it definelty gave me a good laugh and made me happy I'm a missionary

Thursday
Elder Salinas still wasnt feeling his best so we decided to take the morning so he could work in the afternoon. After lunch we did our weekly planning session and then went out with Brother Dolezal and Blake and did a disc golf birthday round because it was Brother Dolezals birthday. Blake is Brother Dolezals sons nonmember friend and it has been cool to see our relationship grow because of disc golf. He is much more comfortable with missionaries now that I have been here and here's to hoping that'll lead to him asking questions. We had a birthday dinner at the Dolezals place as well which was really fun. The Bridges were there as well (Dolezal family friends/Blake's family) We had French dip as well as the best carrot cake I have ever tasted. We ended the night with basketball!

Friday
We proselyted Jackson Street and contacted some people and knocked doors. We ran into Bill and Larry since they live on Jackson Street and he immediately started talking about what had happened a few weeks ago. Awkward..... we left as soon as we could haha. We went up to Greenville and had a lesson with Brenda that went really well. She said that she would come to church! We tried contacting a couple of others and then we headed back to Quincy for a lesson with Maddy. We were able to get Sister McAllister and her 10 year old daughter to come which was a big help. After dinner we on a search to find Ray since we hadn't seen him in a while but we couldn't find him. I guess he has already moved to the Bay area. To close off the night we went to the church to check the baptismal font and holy moly that thing is dirty. We will have to clean it before Maddy is baptized next Saturday. I Quincy hasn't had a baptism in over a year so I guess I get why it's dirty.

Saturday
We proselyted Center Street and contacted some people there in the morning. After lunch we had a great Book of Mormon read with Sidney. That afternoon we had a few lessons lined up but none went through so it turned into alot of walking time. One interesting thing was that Bill sent a message late last night asking if we wanted to come over for dinner and we responded but he never got back to us. We went to his place at 5 and said that we have tried to get ahold of him all day and he said that dinner wouldn't be ready until much later so we ended up not eating with him. Bill is definitely an interesting guy. A plus is he said he was thinking about us the other day before we ran into him on Friday so I guess it was meant to be. We ended the night by going to the ward volleyball night.

Sunday
Brenda said that she would come to church but she needed a ride so our plan was to pick her up with Brother Dolezal (he was giving us a ride to Greenville anyway because he is the high Councilor over Greenville) and take her to church. The morning of we text Brenda asking if we are still good to pick her up and she responded saying she will just go to the church down the street. We replied saying we were looking forward to seeing her at church and asking if she is sure she doesn't want to come with us and she responded saying "No thanks I'm good". Oh well what can you do. Our whole lesson was centered around how to feel forgiven and be better and we said it all starts with coming to church but I guess she doesn't want that even though she said she desperately needs it. Other than that we had a great meeting in Greenville. After church we drove back with Brother Dolezal to Quincy and had lunch at their house. Blake and Jenna were there too which was fun. We had a scheduled lesson that afternoon with some people but when we got there they said they weren't interested. We had dinner with the Walmers (Brother Walmer is so fun) and then after another one of our lessons fell through. We ended the night by trying to schedule some youth lessons.

Lesson Reviews

Ryan
We had a great lesson about the Plan of Salvation with Ryan. We centered it around how the Plan is possible through Jesus Christ and God's love for us. He had a question about the Law of Moses and sacrifice and what the Atonement has to do with it so we turned to Alma 34: 8-15 and it answered his question perfectly. He said that he was quite impressed to how we knew exactly where to turned to and he has asked it to other people and they usually just say I don't know. Big success right there. We continued on teaching and answering any questions he had. We talked about where the terms of the 3 Kingdoms of Glory come from and once again we knew where to turn to which is 1 Corinthians 15:40-41. This got him ponder it even more and he was connecting the dots and feeling the Spirit. We ended off by inviting him to read the Gospel of Jesus Christ pamphlet and we will be back Sunday night.

Maddy Pt 1
Pretty much a contact because we couldn't go inside because we didn't have a 2nd adult to go inside with us. We talked to Maddy about her baptism date and she still feels good about May 6. We talked about her interview and set a date for that as well. We talked about what we will go over and do in the next 2 weeks to prepare for her baptism!!

Mike and Brenda
Mike fed us burgers and while he was cooking we were talking about Christlike service and how he loves how our Church demonstrates this to all people. We are sitting on the couch and we see someone walk in from the other room and it's freaking Brenda from Greenville that we are trying to work with. How she got there we don't know but a big unexpected surprise. She had sent a referral a couple months back, declined it after we saw her, sent another one 2 months later so now we are trying to get something set up so seeing her at Mike's was very very unexpected. She had some questions and we answered them. Mike even was answering some of her questions and bearing testimony which was cool to see. We set up return appointments with Brenda on Friday in Greenville and Monday in Quincy with Mike.

Brenda
We mainly discussed how following the Gospel of Jesus Christ is how we are forgiven and feel forgiven for the things we do. She said that she wants to start on the path of developing her relationship ship with God and apologized for how things ended last time. She asked how do I fully repent and we responded by talking about baptism and she said that is something that she would like to do. She also showed us some of the apps/videos she uses to learn more. We directed her to the Gospel library app and told her to get her information from there because it's approved content. We invited her to church and she said she would love to try it out and wants to find the church that she feels right in. We also taught her how to pray!

Maddy Pt 2
We went over the last laws and Ordinances of the Gospel. We refreshed her memory on the Priesthood and how the church is organized. We used Mosiah 28:3 to teach missionary work, Mosiah 2:17 to teach service, and went over the Gospel of Jesus Christ again to teach endure to the end. We emphasized that coming to church and partaking of the sacrament as often as possible is a big part of enduring to the end. We also discussed the importance of why we are doing these certain things instead of just knowing what they are. Maddy retained the information well with a little "quiz" we did at the end which she got an A+ on. May 6th is still a go!!

Sidney
We read 1 Nephi 4, 5, 6 and talked about how the Lord will provide a way for us to obey His commandments even if all things seem stacked against us. We discussed how Nephi only wrote down things of upmost importance so we can trust that the things we read are very important to follow. We also talked more about the context/content of the Book of Mormon in general.

That's it for this week! This transfer is getting close to being over which I'm pretty sad about because I have a good chance of leaving 😥. I would absolutely love to stay but Elder Salinas and I have been together for 2 transfers and I have been here longer so odds are against me. I still have 2 weeks though until I would be moved so here's to making the most out of every second I have!!!

I love you guys. Have a great week!

Quincy Week 15 (Mission Week 54)

Hey everyone!!

I'm just gonna get straight into how my week went. Sorry this is coming so late. How that happened I don't know but it did haha

Monday
Regular pday. We went disc golfing with Andrew (Brother Dolezals son) and his friend Blake.

Tuesday
We spent the morning walking around Jackson Street talking to people as well as hitting up some previously contacted people. After lunch we had a great lesson with Sidney. In the past missionaries had just done Bible Studys with her but we pushed to start reading from the Book of Mormon and she said yes so that's what we did with her. After that we proselyted around Center Street. We had a lesson with Crystal but it didn't happen because she hadn't read the pamphlet and wasn't prepared. Bummer. We continued to proselyte as a backup and then after dinner we had a great lesson with Maddy. She is so close to baptism!!! May 6 is the day! We then went over to Mike for a lesson but his leg was hurting him really bad and it was swollen so we gave him a priesthood blessing and said we'd be back later in the week. I cooked a steak dinner for Elder Salinas and I and holy moly it looked amazing but the meat was pretty tough. Oh well. I'll get better at it and I'll appreciate any suggestions to make round tip steak not tough haha.

Wednesday
We had Zone Conference in Reno!!! It was pretty much a day vacation haha. The Conference was really fun as always and we learned a lot and got an increase in motivation. I had my interview with President Dunn which went well. I once again informed him that I wouldn't mind being in a biking area haha. After all our meetings (which went until about 5:30) we went over to Dillard's to get me a new suit. I came out with 2 but when I lost all my weight I got a new one and left the 2 in Washoe making it to where I only have 1. Although I'm very grateful to have one it's still really nice to have 2 so you can switch things up and have 2 to choose from. We then got some food and then headed back to Quincy

Thursday
We contacted and proselyted at an apartment complex in the morning. I had a mishap during lunch. I made porkchops and rice and I was very excited to eat it but as I was walking to the table I tripped and spilt it on the floor. Luckily all the chops stayed on the plate and it was salvageable but it still made be question my existence before a few minutes haha.. After lunch we conducted our weekly planning session and then went out of walked the neighborhood by the church. We had dinner with the Jordan's and then ended the day with basketball. Numbers at basketball are pretty low because of spring football at the college and baseball at the high school starting up but I'm still happy we are able to get a group together.

Friday
We helped the Dolezals out in the morning with a dump run. After lunch we had a great over the phone Book of Mormon read with Sidney. We proselyted Jackson Street during the afternoon and we stopped by the Walmers house during out walk and just swung on their swings in the front yard. What's funny is that I have a running joke that missionaries are the "Easter Eggs" of the real world so it funny to think about random people driving by and seeing two of the "Mormons" swinging on some random house swings but in reality we know the people who live there but they just aren't home haha. We had dinner with a part member (less active) family and had a lesson with Ryan who is the non member husband. Missionaries in the past have invited them to game nights and stuff and he has offered to feed us but never has pulled through so Elder Salinas and I just called him up and said "Hey about that dinner and lesson you mentioned could we do it on Friday?" and he said Yes! It pays to be bold haha. We had a good time.

Saturday
We originally were going to go to Greenhorn (about 20 minutes out of Quincy) next Saturday but I had the feeling that we needed to go this morning and talk to Jacob (who is the only reason to go to Greenhorn) so we did besides the fact we really don't have the miles for it haha. We talked with him and it went amazing!! We invited their family to the game night and they all came that night! They also came to church the next day as well!! They have a couple of primary aged kids so they fit in well. In the afternoon we just contacted a bunch of people inviting them to the game night. We knocked Becca and Taylor to see if they were still interested in taking lessons because neither of us had met them yet and they let us in and we had a great lesson. After that we had the game night which was very fun. Jacob's family as well as Desiree, Maddy, and Ruby (Maddys little sister) came. Late at night after the game night I decided to make some cookies for the potluck the next day but I needed one more cup of flour. I decided to go across to our neighbors and asked for it and they gave it to me!! Keep in mind it's like 10pm haha. I saw their lights on so I sent it and it turned out well. I'll send a Google Drive link for the video because my companion videos it and it's quite funny.

Sunday
We had church in Quincy this week. Nonmember attendance was Jacob's family, Maddys family, and Sherry Ann with her husband. We had a potluck after church (I love Quincy for many reasons but the fact that this was my 7th potluck in 3 1/2 months is up there in the rankings haha) After church we had a lesson with Sherry Ann. We had dinner with the Walmers and then proselyted a bit after.

Lesson Reviews

Sidney
We gave her a Book of Mormon and we read the Title Page, Intro, and Testimonies with her. We talked about how the Bible and Book of Mormon go hand in hand and strengthen each other. We talked about prophets and apostles and how God still talk to His children. We shared Alma 32:27 and testified that she must have the desire to know the truth if she is to recieve it. She was receptive to all what we said and she said that she will start reading it from 1 Nephi 1!

Maddy
We asked if she had prayed about being baptized on May 6th and she said that she feels good about that day!!! We taught the rest of the commandments that we hadn't gone over yet. We also showed a Gospel for Kids video on baptism. Maddy is expressing a lot of excitement about being baptized and says that she feels closer to Jesus when she thinks about it!

Sidney Pt. 2
We read 1 Nephi 1-3 with her and discussed what we can learn from what we read. We gave some explanation on the storyline as well as some deeper understanding on how and when the Book of Mormon was written.

Ryan
We ate dinner with them and then after we discussed his history with the missionaries and what he had been taught. He said that he was working on stopping smoking and now he rarely smokes. He said that he would like to take the lesson again and progress towards baptism. He asked if we had something for him to read so we briefly went over the Plan of Salvation pamphlet and we will return on Monday night to have a full Plan of Salvation lesson.

Becca and Taylor
We knocked just to see if they were still interested in taking the lessons and they let us in and we started talking immediately. Becca said that she just had been praying and telling Taylor that they needed to put God more in their life and its not a coincidence that we stopped by. We asked what they remember from previous missionaries and they said they remember modern day prophets so this took us into the Restoration and how we have modern day prophets now. We talked about the Priesthood and how it blesses us and our families. We discussed how the Book of Mormon and Bible go hand in hand. Taylor said that he would love to experience the feeling of being baptized so we asked them both if being baptized is something that we can help them work towards and they said yes! We gave them Book of Mormons and a GOJC pamphlet and will have another lesson next Saturday.

Sherry Ann
We had a great lesson on the Word of Wisdom, Law of Chastity, and LA and Titihing. We used D&C 89 to teach the Word of Wisdom and discussed how it blesses our lives. We read from the Family Proclamation to teach the Law of Chastity. We read Malachi 3:10-11 to discuss the Law of Tithing. We related all of these commandments to following prophets because each thing we used in the lesson was given to us by prophets. We also talked about how all blessings are predicated on obedience to God's commandments. We asked if she were a baptized member of the Church would she strive to follow these commandments and she said yes!

That's it for this week!! I love yall!

Have a great week!
Elder Proctor

Quincy Week 14 (Mission Week 53)

Happy Easter everyone!!! I hope yall had a great Easter celebrating the Resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I tried my best to follow Elder Stevensons invite on making Easter as special as Christmas but I can definitely tell why Elder Stevenson talked about it because I found myself forgetting to tell people Happy Easter but I would never forget to say Merry Christmas. It's a work in progress haha. Anyways I had a great week. Here's how it went

Monday
We had a game day at the Dolezals for Pday. Nothing much special after that

Tuesday
First district council of the transfer went well. Our whole district (minus our DL who went home) stayed together. It was my and Elder Whettens year mark so we brought some celebratory cookies and pie to share. During the afternoon we did some service in Greenville and then ate dinner with the Meyers. We had a lesson with Maddy and then we brought Nate (youth about to go on a mission) over to a "lesson" with Chad and it was probably the funniest lesson ever because Chad was DRUNK drunk and could barely operate but he sure appreciated us coming and talking about Jesus with him

Wednesday
We went over to get Elder Salinas knee checked out because it has been bothering him. If you didn't know he got hit by a car when he was in a biking area so he's got all sorts of problems haha. Jk but it is a result of him having to be on crutches and it strained his knee muscles. During the afternoon we contacted alot of people who are "yellow dots" which means that they have expressed interest but aren't being actively taught. We managed to clear up our area book and drop quite a few off then and a couple of then wanted to be taught so that's good. We had dinner and a lesson with Paul and Sherry Ann Herbert that went well.

Thursday
Elder Salinas had his appointment in the morning that he scheduled the day before. We had our weekly planning session and then went out and contacted some people. We had a missionary failure with Michael because we asked her if she would like a Plan of Salvation pamphlet and she said yes (which we had just planned on doing during weekly planning) and neither of us had one in our bag 🤦‍♂️ We say we have one in the truck but just out of bad luck there's not one in there. We tell her that we will come back with one later and she said ok so we drive off and it turns out Elder Salinas had one in his bag the whole time so we turn right back around and go give it to her haha. Definitely couldve went better but it's a funny story. During the evening we had basketball.

Friday
I was on exchanges with Elder Turley and we had a great day!! We had 3 lessons planned that I was really looking forward to because they were with some of our favorite people to teach. We had a lesson with Linda in the morning. After lunch we had a lesson with Sidney and we made great progress with her. She had been doing Bible Studys with missionaries for a year and had never been taught a lesson or even been given a Book of Mormon so we changed that haha. We then headed off to Greenville and had a lesson with Lorraine. Afterwards we drove quite a ways away to one of the places that Brother Meyers suggested we proselyte. There was nothing there so we drove the 30 minutes back to town. Thanks Brother Meyers haha. We walked around Taylorsville and ate dinner there and then went back to Greenville for for contacting. We had a lesson with Brenda that fell through. We were supposed to meet up to switch back from exchanges at 8:30pm in Clear Creek but our companions didn't get there until 9:45....... we still had an hours drive back to Quincy so we got home very very late

Saturday
The Dolezals have some close family friends that have never gotten close to missionaries before but since I've been here they have become much more comfortable with us. They are really into disc golf as well so in the morning I actually got to participate in a disc golf tournament round!! We thought that it would be a great idea to continue to build our relationship with Blake (the 17 year old son) so it was us, Brother Dolezal, and Blake on a scorecard. Blake is actually really good good he took 1st put of 23 people playing. I got 7th out of 23. It was a fun morning. During the afternoon we continued to contact those yellow floors and clear out our area book. We found a couple of then which was nice. In the evening we had volleyball night with the ward.

Sunday (Happy Easter🐣)
We attended Greenville church meetings and then went over to lunch with the Meyers. We proselytefmd some around Greenville and the surrounding areas and then returned to Quincy. We had a correlation meeting with Carlos and then contacted some more people that night.

Lesson Reviews

Maddy
It was a short lesson because her mom wasn't feeling well and Maddy was pretty tired. We talked about her baptism date and she said that she wants to push it back a month. We said that this is a good idea because we haven't had a lesson in 4 weeks and before she is baptized we need to be meeting consistently as well as coming to church as often as she can. We invited her to pray about being baptized on May 6.

Jordan
We were there to see Aaron but he wasn't home so we talked to Jordan and he said that he would be interested in learning about Jesus Christ and said he would take a pamphlet. We have him a Restoration overview and will come back tomorrow to talk more about it.

Crystal
We came to see if she's interested at all in taking lessons. Her baby daughter is sick and she is going through alot right now so we shared a scripture and testified that the Gospel of Jesus Christ can help her feel comfort and peace. We asked if she would be interested in developing her relationship with Him and she said yes. We set a return date for next week.

Sherry Ann
We had a great lesson with Sherry Ann. We used a block diagram thing to map out the Plan of Salvation and taught each principle. We focused on how the Plan is possible because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the love Heavenly Father has for us. She seemed to get everything but at the end she was a bit overwhelmed with all the info we gave so we decided to not talk about baptism with her. We will try to set a date next time.

Linda
She read the Plan of Salvation pamphlet and had taken notes and had questions ready for us. She pretty much agreed with all of the things that we taught her and we cleared up some things that she misunderstood in the pamphlet. We talked about temples and family history and how it relates to the Plan of Salvation. We explained what covenants we make at the temple and how that's why we are into genealogy because we believe that we can do these ordinances for our ancestors. We also talked about spiritual gifts and patriarchal blessings. Linda threw us in for a loop when she said that this would probably be the last time she meets with us but she is extremely grateful for the knowledge that we have shared with her. We told her that we have only shared a sliver of knowledge and that if she reads the Book of Mormon then she will have the desire to meet with us more to answer questions. She said that she would and will give us a call. We're going to get her a big print Book of Mormon.

Sidney
We asked her what she knew about our church and she had a few things but not much. We taught the entire Restoration and emphasized on the Great Apostasy and how there was a need for a Restoration. We talked about the First Vision and how the Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand in hand. We testified that by reading the Book of Mormon she will feel of the Spirit and will Co to knowledge that it is the word of God. We also talked about how if the Book of Mormon is true then the entire church is true. She said that she had never heard any of this and that she would accept a Book of Mormon. We will go over on Tuesday and read from it together.

Lorraine
We read 3 Nephi 27: 13-22 and discussed the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We asked what she knew about each principle, what it means to her, and went based off her answer. We dove into the Restoration a little bit again when we talked about baptism because she didn't get why her baptism wasn't valid as a kid. We used the analogy of a plate breaking and people picking up the pieces but not having the full plate. We explained that priesthood authority was one piece of the plate that was lost but restored when the full plate came back to the Earth. She also had some questions that don't really line up with doctrine. We were able to clear those things up and ended by asking if she were to know the truth of these things if she would be baptized. She said she would but then said that she believes she already has been because if she was baptized again then she would be betraying her parents beliefs :( Hopefully she'll allow the Spirit to touch her and change her mind

Connie
We asked her if she would be interested in having discussions and she said yes. We gave her a brief overview of the Gospel of Jesus Christ pamphlet and testified that abiding by it then her relationship with Jesus Christ will grow. We set a return appointment for April 22.

Will
We asked if he had a belief in Jesus Christ and he said not really but he would be interested in developing his relationship and faith in Christ. We gave an overview of the GOJC and testified that living it will help him grow his faith and increase his relationship with Jesus Christ.

That's it from this week. I love yall!!!!

Have a great week

Quincy Week 13 (Mission Week 52) My 1 Year Mark!

 Hello everyone!!!!

I hit my year mark!!!! 6 companions, 3 areas, 1 year. I can't believe that I've been a missionary for one year already and I'm halfway through. There is so much truth behind the statement that time goes slow but fast at the same time on the mission. Days feel like weeks but weeks feel like days. I'm so grateful for the time I've already had and am looking forward to what my 2nd and final year as a missionary has in store. Anyways here's how my week went!

Monday
We played a round of disc golf and I also got a haircut. It was the longest haircut of my life. The barber felt the need to tell me his near death experience and what he experienced. He said he was with Jesus and they went to another planet and saw some people dancing to make fruit come out of the ground which is how Adam and Eve produced fruit in the Garden of Eden. The entire thing was crazy. It was a 55 minute haircut lol.

Tuesday
We took one last day of rest to hopefully kick out our sickness before the first day of the transfer. We spent the day deep cleaning the place after a week of being sick and stuff piling up. Our place smells and looks great and fresh now. Perfect start to a new transfer of work! It also snowed all day and we drove in it to Greenville for a dinner. I was pretty scared the whole way haha. In the evening we went to Nates mission call opening and he's going to Mexico!!!!! Whats funny is that there was some technical difficulties when he opened it and he came to us to ask if he opened it right and we saw that he was already on the mission portal page which has his missions name plastered on the top so we immediately took his phone away and went to another room to get the call letter haha. So we figured out where he was going before anyone else. After we went to his house and talked about missions and shared a spiritual message with the couple of families that were there.

Wednesday
We spent pretty much the entire day walking. It was cold and wet the whole day so it's wasn't the most fun day to be a proselyting day but we did talk to a couple of people. We found a lady named Jeri that looks promising. We ended the night with a lesson with Mike

Thursday
We spent the morning tracting and then the rest of the afternoon was planning. The entire town of Quincy lost power around 1pm which was wierd. What's funny is that in the middle of weekly planning we went to get something to eat to take a break and when we got our food we overheard the waitress say to a couple that they could only take cash because the power was out. I had to go up there and tell them that I didn't have cash and we left and came back with cash haha. Our food was pretty cold by then haha. Because the power was out no one showed up to basketball. We went up there to let people know we weren't playing but at 7:45 the power kicked back on so we called a couple of people and we still got 10 people to play!

Friday
We spent the morning proselyting and then we had a fantastic lesson with Linda. We had Nate tag along with us. After the lesson we had lunch and then headed up to Greenville to do work. Our lesson with Lorraine fell through because her sister came right when we sat down and we felt like it wasn't a good time. We then were supposed to have a lesson with Brenda who was an online referall but that fell through as well. What is wierd is that we got a referral for her a couple of months ago and we had a good lesson but when we came back she was quite adamant about us not coming back. Fast forward 2 months later and she sent another request to meet 🤷‍♂️. During the evening we had volleyball night which went well. Someone was asking about the "Mormon Bible" they saw so we had a good discussion after we played about the BoM.

Saturday
GENERAL CONFERENCE!!!!! It's crazy how its already been 6 months and we got to watch conference again. That took up our entire day but we did work in between sessions. We had a great first lesson with Kyleigh who a member referred us to teach.

Sunday
MORE CONFERENCE!!! We watched it with Carlos and one of our friends, Mike, was supposed to come but he didn't. Oh well. We had breakfast and then watched both sessions. After conference we took a break because I have had sinus pressure headaches the past week because of a sinus infection. Why can't I just feel better?? I don't know but we still worked haha. We had a lesson with Mike but that fell through as well just like he didn't come to watch conference. He is on date to be baptized on May 6th but if he keeps doing this then he won't be ready.

Lesson Reviews

Jerri
We knocked her door and she said that we are the second set of missionaries(in general) in the past week that have come by. She said that our faith sticks out to her because of our members are wonderful people. She said that she would be up to learning why we have so much joy but her schedule is busy. She accepted a Restoration pamphlet and we talked a little about the principles found in in. We gave her our number to set up an appointment.

Mike
We read Mosiah 27 and discussed Alma the youngers conversion story and how it can relate to Mike. We talked about true repentance and what it means for us as God's children. We also talked about how baptism is showing true repentance and we talked about the symbolism behind baptism. We put him on date to be baptized on May 6 but told him that in order for it to happen he has to strive to live the things we teach him. We invited him to read 2 Nephi 31 and we will discuss it next lesson.

Linda
We asked if she had any questions, which she did, so that lead us into a great discussion. She had done some more of her own research and had printed off the Articles of Faith and had written notes and questions which we were able to answer. We talked about more of our core beliefs. We also went over the Fall and how it was apart of God's plan and we are judged based on our own sins and not Adam's which she agreed with. We covered the Book of Mormon again and how Joseph Smith translated it by the gift and power of God. We had to cut it short but we gave her a Plan of Salvation pamphlet and said we'd go over that next time. She said that she's happy that we are actually able to answer her questions because no one else has been able to do that before.

Kyleigh
We initially were going to do a Restoration lesson but when we asked if she had any overall questions she expressed a want to know of what happens after we die so we taught the Plan of Salvation. She was very involved and she said that she has never heard any of it before but it made her feel good. We testified that that was the Holy Ghost and it's because she is hearing truth that she is comforted. We told her that this all came from the Book of Mormon and she said that she would like to start reading it.

That's it for this week!! Once again thanks for all the prayers and thoughts coming my way. I surely appreciate the emails yall send as well. I may not respond but know that I read every one. I love yall!!

Have a great week
